The Sweets litter has a long and sad story.... My name is Amber and I hope you will read my story and give my puppies a chance. I don't care about myself; mothers care for their babies first and all I want is for them to be safe and live an easier life than I have. I'm still a young girl and I had an owner. They didn't spay me and when I found myself pregnant they were so mad at me. They took me and dumped me out. I came up to a house and the man was nice but he had what they call Alzheimer's so he would forget about me a lot. When my labor started I climbed under the house to have my babies because it was warmer there than just outside the house. I did my best to keep them warm but I failed. Two of my babies died of the cold and my heart was full of sorrow and terror. I had failed as a mother. Four of my babies were still alive and doing well but no one could get to them. Then one cold day a woman came and ripped up the boards. I could hear her calling to us, begging me to come bring the babies to her. But I was scared. All I had left in this whole world was my four babies. What if she wanted to hurt us? People have kicked me before to shoo me away or thrown rocks at me if I tried to find food in their trash. Could I trust her? Should I trust her? I heard her promise to help us, so I nosed one baby to the opening and she grabbed us one by one. Her hands were calloused from work but gentle. "Oh mama, you did so good! Your babies are fat and beautiful! And you are just a little bitty thing." We went in her car to her house. She set up a whole bedroom for us with a playpen. She filled it with soft blankets and gave us all food and fresh water. We've been here ever since. She makes sure we are all cared for and we are warm and cozy. I like all the other dogs there and I don't even mind when they visit my babies. They are my friends. I have 3 daughters and one son and they named them all after sweets. They say this is the Sweet Litter, because I am as sweet as sugar and such a good dog. I don't take up much space. I weigh around 30 lbs. My babies are all big puppies, around 7 weeks old now and 6-7 lbs each. They are good babies and would be friends to you too. If you could help us, I would love you forever. Like I said, I don't worry about myself, but my human friends here tell me they won't leave a mama behind. So they say if you help my precious babies I must go with them. I hope you can help us all. I never want my babies to be cold or hungry or kicked by people or have rocks thrown at them. My friends here say we live in the bootheel of Missouri, which I understand is far away from help. But they say that's not a problem and they will take us anywhere we need to go. I promise to be a good girl and love you and your dog family if you give us this chance. ?
