Across America Boxer Rescue

Our Rescue is an all volunteer effort to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home unwanted and abandoned Boxer dogs. When Boxers are in need, Across America Boxer Rescue's dedicated volunteers respond. Our mission includes hands-on rescue, as well as education. Our rescue is dedicated in helping as many Boxers that have had a very "ruff" start for whatever reason. All Boxers that come into our rescue will be examined by our vet, brought up to date on vaccines, heart worm tested, (placed on heart worm preventive medication) and fecal tested, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We will evaluate each Boxer's personality and temperament, so they can be placed in the best home suited for them.

Meet Kizzy - SPECIAL NEEDS FOSTER OR FOREVER FOSTER ME!

4/27/24 UPDATE....Kizzy was returned to the rescue due to her mom's health issues. She arrived at her foster home on 4/23 and is getting adjusted to the move. Kizzy will be happiest in an adoptive home with no other dogs and without cats. She is on Incurin for slight urinary incontinence, it is a daily medication and is very inexpensive and she will need to be on it for the foreseeable future. She loves treats and is eating well and we are so glad as she needs to gain a few pounds. She has also made herself right at home on the couch and has found the toy box and absolutely loves playing!8/15 UPDATE....We continue to work on figuring out Kizzy's potty accident problem.  It seems to be more prevalent when foster mom is at work, so possibly a little bit stress related.  Kizzy just vistied the vet again yesterday and we did a full bloodpanel including urinalysis and thyroid tested and will go from there on what is next.  In the meantime, she is still the sweetest most loving girl and loves it when foster mom is home to take her for walks or just have some girls time :)  8/23 UPDATE....Kizzy is being treated for a urinary tract infection.  Her bloodwork looks really good and everything else seems to check out OK.  We are leaning towards stress/anxiety as the major cause of her potty issues.  Kizzy would likely thrive and have way less issue with potty accidents with a family where someone is home all or a lot of the time.  9/20 UPDATE...This girl just continues to puzzle us. She is doing well on her daily medication but has potty issues while foster mom is at work.  After sooooo much testing and soooo many vet visits, we are leaning towards the problem being mostly behavioral.  We believe that is is part of her separation anxiety when left home alone while foster mom is at work.  She was doing much better then foster mom changed jobs so the routine changed and we are back at square one.  We truly believe that Kizzy would do just fine in a home where someone was home about 90% of the tiime.  It is *possible* that she could live with an older/calm dog, but she would likely do best in a home with no other dogs.  She would still need to be on the daily dose of Incurin, which is an inexpensive medication.  Do we have any homes out there who would be open to a quirky girl who requires daily medication and LOTS of time with her person or people?
