Meet Frank

Frank had a very short introduction yesterday and although it's been roughly 24 hours with him here is what we know so far: He was surrendered to us locally for many reasons, one being not being potty trained. Truth: He is a puppy, specifically a small breed one. Their attention spans are as small as their bladders. Frank is no exception. If given too much freedom in the house then he will have an accident. We would like to brag however with the rain, he had no hesitation and did do both potties in it! (He is also not fixed so some of the potty issues could be marking which he will be fixed on Monday) Another reason, while zero aggression with humans he likes to harass older dogs, hates sharing attention and doesn't take other dogs corrections well. Every dog and situation is unique. No proper energy outlet can cause pent up aggression or sassy behavior. Frank has not had a single "aggressive" issue in the last 24hours. He has tried randomly nipping , based on body language one could easily say it was a play attempt, but he is awkward like he truly doesn't know how to puppy. When sharing his people's attention and another dog joins, Frank will continue loving the attention and has even just walked away. This little guy has been nothing like what we were expecting, for a 5-6 month old puppy he is actually really good! Frank sits on command, happily waits for food, gently kisses babies, loves snuggles and is intrigued but not aggressive to kitties. While he may have sharing issues down the road (any dog could) at this age redirection is easy and training is beneficial. We even have a local trainer that reimburses any of our adopters a certain amount after completion AND we even have online options. Even if there are no concerns having that training connection can never hurt. Frank will be ready to go to his forever home Monday after he is neutered and has been given a clean bill of health. We are accepting applications but he will not be allowed to go home prior.
