Her name says it all. She's a bear! A fun, silly, cute, sweet bear dog. Ursa is amazing. She is fun, loving, well behaved, (mostly, she's still a pup), good natured and happy about life! Things she loves in no particular order: people, kids, dogs, toys, food and the outdoors! She is learning new things all the time. She just learned to go up and down the stairs, and to use the doggie door. She hasn't yet had an accident in the house and seems potty trained. She does well in her kennel. She is a bit skeptical about getting in and out of the car, but once she is in, she does great. She still has some puppy tendancies. She likes to take things that aren't hers and walk around with them in her mouth wagging her tail. She seems pretty proud of herself! A shirt, blanket, a sock, a croc, whatever she finds interesting. So far, she hasn't chewed these things, just wants you to know she has it. She LOVES food. She is from the reservation, so survival is first on her list. She has been around cats and hadn't seemed to mind them. She loves other dogs, and is very friendly to people. She really seems to like children as well. She absolutely loves it outside. She LOVES the snow. With the warm weather coming in the summer though, she may start to prefer the AC as she is one big ball of black fluff. Ursa is a really great dog. She is smart and willing to learn. She will make a great family pet. Completion of an Adoption Application via our website (www.RescueCrew.org) is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in the adoption process. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well.
Adoption Process
Adoption applications must be completed, which include information regarding references and vet clinic information, DL #, names, etc. Reference checks are conducted and when necessary vetting information verified. Discussion about the animal interested in to best assure appropriate and proper placement is made, and educational information regarding how to manage a multi-dog/animal household, slow and proper introductions and the importance of a shut-down period to help the animal acclimate to new surroundings. A "meet and greet" with the animal is required and whenever possible all residents of the household should be present. Home checks may, but not always, be necessary. After adoption applications is approved a contract is required, where we also stipulate that if for any reason the adopter determines they no longer want or can care for the animal we require it be returned to us, with the exception of documented bite history or potentially dangerous or dangerous dog designations. Adoption fees vary, but are comparable to or less than other local rescues and typically are $300 or less for a canine and $150 for a feline.
