Meet Thelma - Backseat Buddy Promo

About Me: Name: Thelma  Breed (or best guess):  Terrier Mix - maybe Airedale/Schnauzer mix Approximate Age: 2 -3 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 25 lb Adoption Fee: $450  (Reduced to $250 with the Backseat Buddy Promo) Requirements: Patient adopter, fenced yard will be helpful Why In Rescue:  Texas transfer Profile:  Thelma and Louise came from a overfull Texas rescue.  They are a little shy upon first meeting them, but warm up and then enjoy being petted.  They get along but do not need to be adopted together.  If you have to patience to let a sweet dog adjust and adapt to a new home and new people.  If interested please fill out the pre-adoption application. BACKSEAT BUDDY PROMO:  We were once backyard dogs, and are waiting to find the home where we can be your Backseat Buddy (if I end up liking car rides) or your best buddy waiting at home. We have been waiting for homes for longer than most - maybe because we are a little bigger, have fur that sheds, or we need a special adopter or home to make we happy. A wonderful supporter of Bichon and Little Buddies has offered to sponsor $200 towards the adoption fees for these Backseat Buddies who have taken a backseat to some of the other dogs who are often adopted quickly. These Buddies deserve to be out of the shelter and into their forever homes. All regular adoption policies apply.  Promotion ends June 30, 2023. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc

Adoption Process
Before meeting with a dog, a pre-adoption application must be completed. After the application is approved, a meeting is arranged between the adopter and the pet. An adoption contract is signed, adoption fee paid (generally $350), and the dog is able to go to the new home once all medical care is given. Dogs are fully vetted, including vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, heartworm test, deworming, dental if needed, and other procedured needed by the particular dog. Adopters are required to return the dog to us if they are unable or unwilling to care for the dog in the future.
