Meet Poppy and Prism

About Me: Name: Prism and Poppy  Breed (or best guess): Toy Poodle Approximate Age: 7 months Gender: Male and Female Approximate Weight: under 10 lb each Adoption Fee: $750 for both Requirements: Loving Family Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender Profile:  Prism and Poppy were surrendered to rescue shortly after being born as the mom was having complications.  Their foster mom bottle fed them and took great care of them and loves them very much.  Prism had an issue with one of his eyes even before his eyes were open and the decision was made to remove his eye as it was blind and we were unsure if it would cause complications in the future.  So he just has one eye but is doing great.  His little sister Poppy was going to stay in her foster home as she has severe leg defects that makes it difficult for her to walk any great distance, but she does get around and wants to be up on the bed with the rest of the "big" dogs.  We discovered Prism and Poppy are so bonded that we want to keep them together, so are hoping their is a special family out there willing to take on a pair of poodles, one which is special needs.  They are on the shy side, but very loving with their family, and happy little pups.  Because of their tiny size, and delicate nature, they are looking for a home without large dogs, and no young children.  They would prefer a quieter home to feel most comfortable.  They will need some work on housetraining in their new home. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation.  He is working on housetraining in his foster home and doing well, but will need continued training to master it! We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  

Adoption Process
Before meeting with a dog, a pre-adoption application must be completed. After the application is approved, a meeting is arranged between the adopter and the pet. An adoption contract is signed, adoption fee paid (generally $495), and the dog is able to go to the new home once all medical care is given. Dogs are fully vetted, including vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, heartworm test, deworming, dental if needed, and other procedures needed by the particular dog. Adopters are required to return the dog to us if they are unable or unwilling to care for the dog in the future.
