Meet Velvet
VELVET Available for Adoption Hi there! I'm Velvet, and I come with two standout features: a silky-smooth black coat that lives up to my name, and the most SPECTACULAR ears you've ever seen! Seriously, these magnificent sound catchers have their own fan club at the shelter. My life's journey took an unexpected detour through the streets of Chicago, where I wandered as a stray, navigating city life on my own four paws. Those days are behind me now, thankfully! These days, I'm living my best life at C.A.R.E., where I've transformed from a trembling, uncertain pup to the unofficial Lap-Warming Champion of the Midwest. At a perfect 17 pounds, I'm just the right size to be your everything companion. Need someone to snuggle with during movie night? I'm your girl. Looking for a co-pilot on car adventures? My ears and I call shotgun! Want a walking buddy who matches your pace with perfect rhythm? I've been practicing just for you! I get along swimmingly with other dogs, and I've never met a human lap I didn't immediately claim as my temporary throne. Every morning when I wake up at the shelter, I think to myself, "Is today the day?" – the day when someone walks in, locks eyes with me, and realizes we're meant to be together. Could that someone be you? I've been saving up all my best cuddles for my forever person! With hopeful wiggles and ear flaps, Velvet
Adoption Process
Our adoption process has evolved from many years of experience. The goal of our adoption counselors is to make a good match between animal and family. We get to know each cat or dog's unique personality and different needs. If a specific dog, for example, has large amounts of energy and needs lots of space to run, it is unlikely that he would meet the needs of a person who works long hours and would be unable to exercise the dog. It would be a mismatch that would be bad for dog and human alike. Our adoption counselors look forward to working with you to help you find the right pet for your home.
