Meet Cooper

Mr. Cooper is ready to find his forever home! Cooper came to us with his sister Sophie, both found as strays locally and never claimed.  They were extremely matted, dirty and emaciated.  Sophie weighed only 5 pounds after being shaved down and Cooper was barely 7 pounds!  We are happy to say that both have flourished in rescue, are healthy and happy dogs ready to find their forever homes.  They are Shih Tzu mixes we believe and somewhere between 1-2 years old.   Cooper is a happy go lucky little guy.  He is friendly to everyone he meets and is quick to give kisses.  He is eager to be loved and will crawl into your lap for cuddles and kisses.  Cooper is wherever his foster mom.  He will follow her everywhere and if she sits down, he is right there to get attention from her.  He loves to be with other dogs and has no issues with cats in his foster home.  He has been around kids and did just fine.   Cooper is working on his housetraining but will need additional training.  We think he was an indoor only dog in his past life that only used potty pads.  The good news is he LOVES to be outdoors so we know the training will come along.  Cooper is eager to please but the minute he even thinks she is in trouble he collapses to his side in fear, which is just so devastating to see.  His foster mom quickly scoops him up and tells him she is okay.  This is getting much better but it still happens.  We know with lots of love in her forever home, he will overcome this.  Whatever happened in his past life is not affecting this boy's spirit - he is loving and sweet, and all ready to be part of a family!  Coop is crate trained but doesn't like to be left for too long. He has a really big bark, especially when he is playing and running around the yard.  Apartments will not be ideal for him.  Coop walks on a leash but needs more training on this skill. We would really like a fenced yard for him so he can enjoy the outdoors as he does in him foster home.   Sophie and Cooper came to us extremely matted and needed to be shaved down to the skin.  Their coats are finally growing back but please be aware that they will need regular grooming and haircuts every couple of months.   Cooper is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $450
