Meet Gia

Gia is searching for her forever home. You may remember her from a previous situation when her first owner had severe health issues and could no longer care for her. After spending a little over a year with her new mom, Gia faced another tragedy; her mom suddenly passed away, leaving the family heartbroken and Gia once again in need of a loving person. At 8 years old, this little lady has been through a lot. We are looking for someone who will understand her unique needs. Due to being moved around quite a bit over the last two years, Gia can be hesitant around new people.   Gia is a quirky little girl with the cutest underbite and lots of teeth that light up her smile. And those ears! She must be able to hear the flutter of butterfly wings with them!    Gia is a dog that needs a savvy owner who understands her needs. She may take a few days to warm up to a new environment. At first, when you go to pet her, don’t be surprised if she shows you her teeth. This is her defense mechanism—it's a warning for you to give her space. The best way to get to know Gia is to let her come to you. Sit on the couch and watch TV, and before long, she'll be in your lap, climbing all over you, wanting you to gently pet her. Once Gia learns to trust you, she will be completely loyal. She will shower you with kisses and want to play with you, especially with her little toys. Gia is food-motivated, so treats are a great way to win her affection quickly.   When it comes to children, Gia is not suitable for homes with kids under the age of 15. If children do visit, Gia will be perfectly content to sleep the day away, either in your bedroom or in a crate. She would much rather have a quiet, adult-only home with 1-2 people. While she gets along with other dogs, she prefers to be the center of attention and the princess of the household.   Speaking of sleeping arrangements, Gia loves to snuggle in bed with her people—it's her favorite place to sleep! In true Chihuahua fashion, she loves to sleep under the blankets. If you don’t lift the blankets for her, she will paw at you until you do. The princess has spoken, and you will listen! If she needs to go potty at night, Gia will happily use a potty pad. However, she certainly enjoys a good, long night’s sleep.   In terms of house training, Gia is as trained as a Chihuahua can be. When it’s cold and wet outside, she will use a potty pad; when it’s warm, she prefers to go outside. Gia is leash-trained, so a fenced yard is not necessary.   Gia is a wonderful little girl who needs a specific kind of home. If you are willing to give her the time she needs to warm up to you, you won’t be disappointed. Gia is a fun, affectionate, and fiercely loyal dog. We know her perfect home is out there—could it be with you? Gia is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $300 in hopes to find her forever home.
